10,000 euros for flood victims

Hellersen Sports Clinic collects donations for employees

10,000 euros were collected during a fundraising campaign at the Hellersen Sports Clinic. They will benefit an employee who was hit hard by the flood disaster.

Broken electrical appliances, unusable furniture, ruined flooring, doors and damaged walls - nothing is usable anymore. The surprising flood poses a major challenge for an anesthesia nurse at the Hellersen Sports Clinic. Having just refurnished a year ago, the employee and his family were left with nothing but devastation in their apartment in Schalksmühle. Even the attempt to stem the tide with homemade barricades was in vain. Not only material damage was caused. Intangible assets such as the record collection and memorabilia were also destroyed. The family lost almost everything.

In order to give comfort to the colleague and his family during this difficult time and to support them in rebuilding, the Hellersen Sports Clinic launched a fundraising campaign via the "Gofundme" platform. In addition, donation boxes were placed in the entrance areas of House 1 and House 2 of the clinic, so that colleagues, patients and visitors had the opportunity to support the employee. The clinic in the person of board member Dirk Burghaus kicked off the fundraising campaign with 2,000 euros.

A total of almost 9,000 euros was donated. The Hellersen Sports Clinic rounded up to 10,000 euros. The sum will not be enough to cover all the material damage, but will provide a jump-start for reconstruction. "I would like to express my sincere thanks for the great willingness to donate - also on behalf of our employee - and I am thrilled about the enormous sympathy. The result is also a sign of how well the cohesion in our clinic works," says hospital CEO Dirk Burghaus. On Monday, the donated sum was handed over to the employee, who accepted it gratefully and overwhelmed.
