Healthy and fit through the finish with the sports medicine Hellersen

Special clinic supports ISG Lüdenscheid in preparation for the AOK company run

Every year, several thousand participants take part in the AOK company run in Lüdenscheid. Among them is a group from the inclusive sports community - ISG for short - which is preparing for this event together with Sportmedizin Hellersen and the Turboschnecken to represent the Johannes-Busch-Wohnverband.

The focus of all sporting activity is health. In order to be fit for the start, the group now underwent a sports medicine examination at the Hellersen Sports Clinic as part of their preparation. "The examination shows, on the one hand, the performance of the athletes, but also, above all, their state of health and whether they are physically ready to take part in the company run. And overstraining and overloading in training should be avoided," explains Dr. Ulrich Schneider, head physician at the Hellersen Sports Medicine.

Last year, around 50 people from the Johannes-Busch-Wohnverbund took part in the AOK company run, employees and people with disabilities. "Of course, we hope that there will be just as many again this year, if not more," says Jens Kuhn from ISG Lüdenscheid.

The ISG is an independent sports department in the Association of Friends of the Johannes Busch House and offers rehabilitation sports for people with mental disabilities who are cared for by the Johannes Busch residential association. "Our goal is to offer an interesting range of sports. To this end, we cooperate with the Turboschnecken, among others," says Jens Kuhn. Through the club and the joint project with the sports medicine Hellersen "From 0 to 10" the contact with the sports clinic Hellersen had also come about.

The "From 0 to 10" project is aimed at running beginners and returning runners with the goal of getting more people running again and also preparing them for the company run if necessary.
